Estudos de Energia Heliotérmica (CSP): Consórcio Educacional para Integração e Sustentabilidade na Agroindústria

Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) is a viable solution to the Brazilian energy matrix due to the large potential of the country's solar resources and the availability of open spaces for the construction of large-scale plants. Additionally, this technology has the potential to generate energy at low costs since the operational costs can be recovered from electric and thermal generation.

In Brazil, power generation based on renewable sources mainly takes place in rural areas. As of 2003, this circumstance became an advantage with the "Power for All" government initiative, which uses decentralized generation of renewable electricity as a vector for regional development and income opportunity for productive activities. The program provides electricity supply to 12 million people.

In this context, the development of technical solutions (including a heliostat prototype), the quantification of efficiency parameters, the consideration of agro-industrial applications (e.g. refrigeration and dairy production), and capacity building in CSP technologies will impart a relevant contribution to diversifying the Brazilian energy matrix.
